QUESTION 1
Visuals are not decoration. They are communication tools. Provide three strategic reasons why visuals are essential to effective web content. Marks are awarded for depth, not surface-level answers. (6 Marks)
For each reason:
- Clearly explain the concept
- Provide a real-world example (not generic statements)
Item 1:
In terms of Internet Marketing, visuals and images are one of the biggest and fastest ways that people can process information on a given subject, no matter how complex it might be. Images simplify things that words can only imagine to make someone be able to understand something in an instant. The human brain is one of many mysteries, but it doesn’t take some super smart scientist to know that we as humans can take in photos and visuals faster than written content, especially today as the digital world exposes us to more, faster and easier to understand visuals, as well as a decline in reading comprehension as a whole.
Example:

On Airbnb, the property listings that are posted everyday all depend on the quality of their images to attract and convey to customers what they’re getting. Written information can only give as much intel as the imagination can perceive. Someone can quite literally understand the space instantly. The layout, the furniture, the location, the vibes, you get an immediate understanding of the property and what it provides through the images, instead of reading buzzwords upon buzzwords. The process becomes simpler because experts can make quicker choices.
Item 2:
Those addicted to their phones (like me), scroll online for hours and hours at a time. When we do that we are constantly making split-second decisions very quickly about what to engage with and what not to. Visuals function as stopping power because they disrupt scrolling patterns to attract users to content.
Example:

A great example of this is on Instagram; if people want engagement, they’ll make a bunch of posts using bold and high-contrast visuals just to consistently outperform text-heavy posts. A travel brand that posts a lively beach sunset will attract immediate attention. A text-only post about the same destination would likely be ignored.
Item 3:
Visuals deliver immediate brand identity through their ability to show tone and mood. The build trust which they establish creates emotional connection that directly affects how users make their choices.
Example:

Apple is very well known for using a clean, simple and minimalist design to their product imagery and brand, making sure there is a lot of white space to let their products shine. Apple knows that people today don’t care about the specs and info about the phone, but rather the fun and quirky things they’ve added for the general public. The visual accuities represented in these images help set their brand identity as something that is premium, luxury, and innovative. They’re basically saying, “If you don’t have an Apple product, you’re cringe and should change that immediately”. The visuals alone convey that message that is synonymous with the brand, of course they would never say those things out loud, but that’s why Apple has one of the best marketing teams out there.

Question 2a
a) Business relevance
The choice of images for this study results from my selection process. The first image demonstrates business value through its display of physical DnD components which include dice and miniatures together with a map and rulebook. The equipment sales connection establishes business ties through two activities which include product sales and beginner training.
b) Target audience alignment
The target audience includes beginners and first-time players who may feel overwhelmed by DnD. The image presents the game in a clear and accessible format which maintains visual appeal. The content shows typical examples which platforms like TikTok and Instagram use to display aesthetic tabletop setups that attract viewer interest and interaction.
c) Image intent
The image uses visual elements to show DnD as a real and simple game to begin playing. The dice and miniatures and books arrangement creates an authentic playable game setup which enables viewers to see actual game play.
d) Why this visual works better than alternatives
The chosen visual method proves more effective than guides which use excessive text or fantasy artwork because it displays authentic equipment setups. The image shows DnD initiation through visual demonstration instead of providing verbal instructions. The confusion disappears because the system presents itself as simple to use. The image conveys its message to viewers without requiring them to decode its meaning. The writing requires readers to decode its meaning whereas the image delivers immediate understanding.
Question 2b
The image achieves high effectiveness within the attention economy because it uses contrast and lighting together with detailed objects which include dice and miniatures to create an immediate attention grabber. The fast-scrolling environment demonstrates this visually rich scene which distinguishes itself from both plain text and simple graphics. From a scroll behavior perspective, users often do not read full articles. The visual presents its core message through DnD gameplay instructions which users can access without needing to read. The image provides users with a basic understanding of a playable setup which they can grasp through brief visual examination.
The image establishes a clear visual hierarchy. The dice in the foreground draw initial attention, while the miniatures and open book guide the viewer deeper into the scene. The composition uses multiple layers to help users understand content flow without experiencing any confusion. The image provides a simple explanation for a complicated concept through its design. The visual shows DnD essential components which users can learn through its organized display of fundamental elements.
The high-quality and realistic setup of Dice Hedron establishes brand knowledge as well as brand trustworthiness. The brand demonstrates its knowledge of the game through authentic equipment which players can use while avoiding the appearance of being a basic or substandard store. The visual generates powerful emotional reactions which include both curiosity and excitement. The viewer can picture themselves playing the game because of the combination between fantasy elements and real game components. The marketing of hobbies relies on this immersive experience because it creates emotional connections which lead to increased interest.
The visual elements of a product display economic benefits because they reduce the entry requirements for users. Beginners often experience doubt which creates a barrier to their learning process. The image demonstrates a complete beginner setup which establishes user confidence and motivates them to investigate Dice Hedron’s products and beginner materials.
